I was prescribed Amitiza, 8 mcg, twice a day chronic constipation. After 2 weeks, absolutely no improvement. Was told to add Miralax and maybe passed a small BM in the morning. Was told to increase to 24 mcg twice a day. Have been doing this plus using Miralax on and off and absolutely no improvement. So, have been on this fir a month. A few days ago, felt tightness in my chest and throat and notified the doctor. Was told to stay on med but contact my OCP to get an EKG done!! Prior to this, was instructed to do a Miralax/Ducolax cleanse, which I have not had time to do yet having the need to go out the following day. I have chronic dry mouth and it seems worse. Have bloating terribly. This is a specialist at Stanford that has prescribed this! Why do they keep telling me to stay on it and give it time to work? It's been a month! I want off this drug but don't know of an alternative.
Can't say it has helped me one bit and I just don't feel well.
