Re: Sensodyne Questions and Answers | I am a long term user of Sensodyne. |Patient Discussion Forum

I have used many Sensodyne products over the years with varying results - I have had many teeth problems, but cannot truthfully point to any source or offer empiric evidence either way. For the last few years I have used Arm and Hammer sensitive with no problems, and existing pain/sensitivity problems went away. I recently bought Sensodyne Repair & Protect. First use there was blood! Same with 2nd and 3rd uses. At this time two of my teeth began to give pain. I stopped using the Sensodyne, and returned to Arm & Hammer. The pain continues, but the bleeding stopped immediately I stopped using the Sensodyne. This was all very very recently, and I am hoping that the pain will soon go the way of the bleeding. I smoke, and smoking contracts the blood vessels in the gums, and so restricts bleeding, and so I have not experienced bleeding for decades - until now. The very sudden bleeding and the equally sudden pain happened immediately following first use of the Sensodyne, and I do not believe this was a coincidence. I have checked recall information, and my batch number does not match the most recent recall number. However, I still think these negative effects are due to the Sensodyne Repair & Protect - just too close.
I do not wish to give a negative feel to any Sensodyne product. We are all different, and this may be just MY reaction to this toothpaste. However, it WAS my reaction.
On a possible happy note, the pain does appear to be reducing. So, whatever the cause, it does appear to be reversible. I truly hope so, as, in my experience, tooth pain is up there with the very worst of pains.
