I took one of the 'meltaway' tablets while preparing to eat chili -- but before I could even get the chili into a bowl and take it to the table, I felt a very sudden and intense nausea building in my stomach. It escalated so rapidly that I literally had to drop the ladle back into the chili pot and hurry to the toilet, where I vomited convulsively until my stomach was empty -- and nothing had been in it except stomach acid (and a few bites of chili from tasting it while cooking), tinted pink from the Beano tablet. Once it was out of me, I felt fine. And if there was any doubt that it was the Beano that caused it, I then proceeded to eat the chili anyway (after washing my mouth out thoroughly, of course), and the chili had no effect on me at all, other than the usual subsequent farting. Well, farting (even for hours on end) is preferable to violent vomiting, so I will *never* take Beano again.
